About This Event

The Rookie League (Elementary School)

Launched in August of 2023, the Rookie League completes the pipeline in our development model. Leading off with over 70 youth representing four elementary schools on Atlanta's West Side, The Rookie League provides the proper development for our entry level program.

The Middle School Baseball Development League

Since 2010, the L.E.A.D. Center For Youth, in partnership with Atlanta Public Schools Athletics, has been the pioneer in providing a middle school baseball development program for student-athletes in APS. Before this partnership, there was no middle school baseball program in APS.

To provide the proper development for the varied skill levels, we created our own league - the Middle School Baseball Character Development League. The MSBCDL provides baseball development in addition to character development that promotes SEL growth in a culturally relevant, sports-based youth development approach.

Our league serves over 200 student-athletes (who we call Jr. Ambassadors) annually, providing school year long programming with our spring baseball season being the capstone of the year.

How You Can Help

This endeavor is a heavy lift and in order to create the best experience for our boys, we need the COMMUNITY’S HELP. We need volunteers to support our six-game spring baseball season.

Each game day has two volunteer shifts, and volunteers are welcome and encouraged to sign-up for back-to-back shifts if they would like to spend the full day with us.

We need volunteer support in the the following roles:

Greeter

There will be a greeter assigned to each team to meet the team when they arrive off of the bus, connect with the liaison/coach, and direct them to their respective dugouts.

Once teams are at their dugouts, each Greeter assists teams with various things like getting lunch, water for the dugout, etc. This role is about facilitation and delegation.

Lunch Team

Volunteers assist with handing out food to teams and liaisons/coaches as they leave the field. Be sure to provide a lunch for bus drivers.

Equipment Team

Responsible for giving out gloves, bats, etc. to each team if they need them and collecting these items before teams exit the field.

Uniforms Team

Responsible for the distribution and collection of uniforms at the field on game day.

Game Day Operations

This is a varied position that includes score keeper's table, crowd engagement (trivia between innings), managing Game Changer account (Jr. Ambassador games only).
